My daughter Erin gave me a wonderful present for my last birthday. Along with a beautiful handmade card, she gifted me a generous coupon that gave me a day of fun. A day off from any my chores. I was very touched that she would recognize that even (especially?) I need a day off from my chores.
Last weekend I was feeling a little frazzled. Between the 5th grade science project and the foster dog, I was really feeling like I could use a day off. So I dug up that fabulous coupon with the intent of cashing it in. Only, when I re-read the damn thing, I noticed a very critical change she had made to the text.
Yep. Nothing like an annotated coupon to tell your mom, “I love you, Mom. But only enough to do some of your chores. You can shove the rest of them up your ass…”
