Conversations with Colin: Does Santa Use Amazon.com?

The Grandmas are always asking for the kids’ Christmas Wish Lists way too fucking early—like in September. I just shake my head, give them some suggestions, and tell them to prepare for disappointment. Because what the kids want in September is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from what they want in December. By now, the kids don’t even remember what they were asking for in the Fall. So there’s no point in starting the Christmas shopping early. At least that’s the excuse I use as I await my amazon.com packages today.

A very good example of this came up at the end of last week. Colin and I were in the car after leaving The Store (Target, if you didn’t already know that) and heading over to pick up Erin from dance class.

Colin: “I totally want the [insert random toy name]. “

Me: “Uhhhh, that sounds like a new request. Did you write Santa about it?”

Colin: “Well, no. But I put it on my amazon.com wish list.”

Me: “Uhhhh…”

Colin: “He’ll totally figure it out.”

Me: “I don’t know… His Internet connection might not be so great up there in the North Pole. Maybe you better save that request for next year.”

Colin: “Nah. He’ll totally figure it out.”

Like I said, I’m still waiting for my amazon.com packages to arrive…
