Conversations with Colin: That Sounded Like Chewbacca

I’d like to introduce a very special guest-blogger: my husband Dan. He’s handsome, smart, funny, musically-inclined, and the man makes coffee for me every morning. He does a lot of behind-the-scenes work on this blog for me, but we decided this little ditty was too good not to share.

Conversations with Colin: That Sounded Like Chewbacca by Dan Fox

Because Kelly gets to spend so much time with him, most Conversations with Colin can be documented and shared from her point of view. But this one, only I can tell—since it took place in the men’s restroom.

We were enjoying a family dinner at a local restaurant. Colin devoured his chocolate sundae and was wearing most of the chocolate on his face and hands. I asked him to come to the bathroom with me to wash off his face and hands.

We were the only two in the restroom, and Colin decided he had to use the potty. He locked himself in the stall and I waited by the sink. While he was still going to the bathroom, another young man entered and proceeded to use the urinal. Then, he flushed.

Colin: “What was THAT?”

Me (glancing at the young man who is trying not to laugh at the little voice coming from the stall): “That was a flush.”

Colin: “Wow…that sounded like Chewbacca!”

The young man and I tried not to bust out laughing.

Me: “Maybe it was Chewbacca.”

Colin finished up in the stall and came out to see the young man washing his hands. I could tell he was a little embarrassed since he probably thought we were alone.

Or maybe he was just disappointed that it wasn’t really Chewbacca.

  1. SO cute! I hope your husband tried to make the Chewbacca sound 🙂 it echoes quite nicely in most bathrooms because of the tile. You might not want to tell/show that to your son though, because once they learn about bathroom acoustics, that is hard to un-teach. I’ve taken to wearing earplugs during my kids’ bath times.
